Welcome Back
Welcome back to Term 2. This term is a short term with only 9 weeks. There are a number of events that will take place throughout the term for parents to connect with their child’s learning, for students to engage in learning and for our school community to come together.
We will send out normal newsletters on weeks 2, 4, 6 & 8 of this term.
Today we came together as a school to celebrate and rejoice in the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We finished Term one with a Stations of the Cross Prayer Service where we remembered and reflected on the journey Jesus undertook in the lead up to his crucifixion on Good Friday. As Easter Sunday was in the holidays, today we celebrated Easter and Jesus rising from the dead. God sent his son Jesus to give his life for us and show us that we need to open the doors of our hearts to love others as God loves us. Ourliturgy today completes our celebrations of the Easter season.
We plan to continue to work in partnership with you to best support your child’s wellbeing and learning. The classroom teacher is your first point of contact should you need to clarify or discuss your child’s learning or wellbeing. Our school leadership team works closely with teaching staff to ensure we follow up and put in place plans to support your child.

Casual Relief Teachers
We are currently experiencing a shortage of Casual Relief Teachers (CRT) in Melbourne. On occasions when teachers are unwell or attending professional learning, Carmel Donlon, myself or specialist teachers may need to step into teaching classes. As a last resort classes may need to be combined. Fortunately we have not needed to do this yet. Our staff are extremely professional and responsible and will leave normal classroom planning and programs for Casual Relief Staff to follow. Staff in neighbouring classrooms liaise with CRT’s to ensure students are well looked after.
Events/Important Dates
Each fortnight in the newsletter, dates for events are published on the left hand side of the newsletter, along with being available on the school google calendar via the school Zsapp. Teachers also publish important dates each term in the curriculum term outline, which will be sent to parents in week 2 of this term. Sometimes we do make mistakes or things do change, so please let us know if you find any discrepancies in dates.
Parent/Teacher/Student Meetings
These meetings will take place on:
Tuesday 21 June
Wednesday 22 June
More information to follow on booking times
School Closure Day
There will be no school for students on Tuesday 14 June. On this day, staff will be involved in professional learning on student wellbeing.
For Dad’s ONLY
Today hard copy order forms were sent home with the eldest child in the family for the Mother’s Day Stall. Please complete and return to school with money so your child can purchase a gift at our Mother’s Day Stall. Once again this year Abbey Walters and her VCAL students from OLSH will be running the Mother’s Day Stall on Thursday 5 May.
OSHClub
Last term we said farewell to Sue from OSHclub and thanked her for all her work with our students. This term we welcome Chole who will be running the before and after school care program at our school. I am sure staff, students and families will make her feel welcome. If you would like your child to attend before or after school care you can contact OSHclub on 0478 033 550
