Foundation Nativity
Wednesday, 9.15am in the school hall
All families are invited to come to the Foundation Nativity. This is always a highlight of our school year. The Week 3 Advent Prayer Reflection run by Year 1/2 will also be part of this gathering.
Christmas Eve Children’s Mass- 6pm 24th December
This year I’m assisting Sheelagh in the Parish to organise a Nativity at the 6pm Christmas Eve Children’s Mass at St Catherine's Church.
- If you would like your child/children to be involved please read the Operoo that was sent out last week.
- You will need to come to a rehearsal at St Catherine’s Church at 5pm on Thursday, 22nd December. At this rehearsal we will allocate roles & organise costumes (These will be provided for all the children) This rehearsal should take about an hour and we ask parents to stay for the whole time. Children involved need to be school age.
- You will need to bring your child/children to church at 5.00pm on Friday, 24th December to have a final rehearsal and get fitted into their costumes.
- Please let me know if you are able to help at either the rehearsal or on Christmas Eve.
Carmel Donlon (Religious Education Leader)
On Wednesday the whole school gathered in the learning hub to celebrate the feast day of our school's patron saint, St Catherine Laboure. The service began with students bringing forward the school banner to represent our school community and our school values. A set of rosary beads to represent the faith and devotion St Catherine had for Mary our mother. Our school prayer that we pray each morning asking St Catherine to guide us in our daily lives. Lastly a candle to represent St Catherine’s devotion to the sick and the elderly.
A beautiful quote from St Catherine was “One must see God in everyone” As we travel through the Advent season this quote is a reminder of those around us. We reflect especially on two lines in our school prayer: “ May we always pray for the compassion to help lonely and hurt people and the courage to do what is right” and like St Catherine showed us in her daily life, “May we always care for everyone in our school so that St Catherine’s is a place of peace.
